This semester I had a lot of fun creating my art pieces, although I had many challenges. This school year I wanted to focus on realism but that didn't go according to plan. I kept wanting to do something realistic but I ended up not liking it and turning it into something more fun and creative. This year I learned about a lot of new mediums and techniques like ink wash, print making, one point perspective and learning shading techniques. I "I statements" really show my growth and decline over the course of the second semester. I definitely had some up and down but I overall found meaning in my pieces, especially with the "Artist Inspire" piece. I found women who are inspiring and honoring them with an art piece and displaying their quotes. Over all my time in the class was a wonderful experience and strengthened my knowledge of art. As I reflect about this class I really enjoyed taking risks with the water color piece "Choice 2". I really struggled with I identifying the values of my models face and displaying it in my piece. I was really nervous because I am not good at contouring the face with water color but it turned out well. My most favorite media I worked with was the print making. Print making is so nice and relaxing and releases a lot of tension. When I was carving out the pictures it helped me focus on the task at hand and not a hundred different things. It was not rolling the paint with a roller and putting it on the linoleum block. Over all it was a fun experience even though its time consuming with the more details you add. I would incidentally recommend that as a way to relax. Being able to choose what you want to work on for art really helps you grow. It helps you learn new things and experience things you would never get to another time because these sypplies are very expensive. This really helps kids find out who they are and how to express themselves when they don't know how to. Art really lets you find out who you are and what makes you happy. I will insert a slide show of everything I made in order from first made to last made.
